Challenge

As St. Thomas School planned for future growth, it needed to replace its aging campus with a modern learning environment capable of serving up to 400 students while maintaining uninterrupted educational operations. The project required demolition of the existing school, relocation of students and faculty to a temporary campus, and construction of a new facility that balanced educational innovation, community integration, future expansion, and ambitious sustainability goals.

Solution

Beginning in 2005, we partnered with St. Thomas School to help research, plan, and implement its long-term campus vision. Our team managed the development of a temporary campus at Linbrook Office Park/Eastside Prep School, allowing the school to continue operating while the existing facility was demolished and replaced. We provided comprehensive project management throughout planning, permitting, budgeting, scheduling, design, and construction, helping align educational goals, sustainability objectives, and operational requirements into a cohesive project strategy.

Outcome & Impact

The new St. Thomas School campus transformed the student experience through flexible, research-informed learning environments that support creativity, exploration, and community. The LEED Gold-certified facility serves as both a high-performing educational environment and a living demonstration of environmental stewardship, reinforcing the school’s mission to develop responsible global citizens. The project established the foundation for nearly two decades of continued campus development and growth, helping position St. Thomas for future generations of students and educators.

"Seneca Group's approach was magical. They undertsood the unique challenges inherent in a building of this magnitude - from educational, schedule and budget perspectives. They understood the signifcance of a purpose-built facility to support our educational mission and program, as well as our responsibility to be good stewards of our financial resources. They managed the budget and the timeline with professionalism. Communication on the project was great...their reporting on the financial side was excellent."
