Challenge
Amazon sought to evaluate new workplace concepts, employee experience strategies, and design standards before implementing them more broadly across its portfolio. The project required balancing ambitious schedule expectations with a highly collaborative phased planning process involving numerous stakeholder groups. Phase 1 needed to function as both a workplace and a proof of concept, requiring rapid decision-making, accelerated procurement, and continuous alignment around evolving objectives. As the program expanded, the team also needed to incorporate lessons learned, user feedback, and budget considerations without losing momentum.
Solution
We partnered directly with Amazon’s Workplace team to help plan and deliver a phased workplace pilot program designed to test future workplace strategies. During the initial phase, we led stakeholder alignment, project planning, procurement strategy, budget management, and execution within an occupied building on an exceptionally compressed schedule. Building on the success of the pilot, we continued leading planning, value engineering, reporting, and implementation efforts as the workplace concepts were refined and expanded. Throughout both phases, our team helped balance design ambition, employee experience goals, operational requirements, and delivery constraints.
Outcome & Impact
Apollo provided Amazon with a real-world environment to evaluate workplace concepts, gather user feedback, and refine future design standards. The phased approach allowed ideas to be tested, measured, and improved before broader implementation across the portfolio. Lessons learned from the pilot informed future workplace refresh and modernization initiatives while helping establish a repeatable framework for decision-making. Amazon gained a validated workplace strategy that aligned employee experience, operational goals, and long-term portfolio planning.
