Challenge
Developing the region’s first proton therapy center required integrating highly specialized cancer treatment technology within an active healthcare campus. The facility needed to accommodate complex mechanical, electrical, and structural systems supporting a 200-ton cyclotron and associated beam delivery equipment. Specialized treatment, planning, and patient support spaces also had to be carefully coordinated to meet clinical and operational requirements. Establishing a viable development strategy required navigating real estate, financing, entitlement, and campus integration considerations simultaneously.
Solution
We provided development management and real estate advisory services, supporting the project from feasibility and site control through permitting and implementation. Our team helped structure the ground lease and related agreements on the Northwest Hospital campus while guiding project feasibility analysis and financing support. We coordinated master planning, entitlement strategy, and phased permitting efforts to align development objectives with clinical needs. Throughout the process, close collaboration with healthcare stakeholders helped position the facility for long-term operational success.
Outcome & Impact
The completed center introduced proton therapy treatment capabilities to the Pacific Northwest, expanding access to advanced cancer care for patients throughout the region. The facility includes four treatment rooms, integrated patient preparation and support areas, treatment planning functions, and specialized technical infrastructure. By combining innovative technology with a purpose-built clinical environment, the project established a new regional resource for cancer treatment. ProCure Treatment Centers gained a first-of-its-kind facility that strengthened its ability to deliver leading-edge oncology care.
