On August 6, 2026, our entire Seattle office stepped away from our desks for our Annual Day of Giving, spending the day at Pathfinder K-8 to help get the school ready for students to return for the 2026-2027 year.
Getting the Playground Ready
Armed with paintbrushes, shovels, and a lot of enthusiasm, our team took on a full slate of projects across the school’s outdoor spaces:
- Playground painting — including four square courts, a large-scale map of the United States, and a winding river design that runs along the entire perimeter of the playground
- Field clearing — prepping outdoor areas for the year ahead
- Dig site refilling — restoring play areas around the campus
Part of a Larger Effort
Our visit was one of several Volunteer Enhancement Projects that Seattle Public Schools coordinates each year, bringing local companies onto campuses across the district to refresh outdoor spaces for students. Firms like Amazon, Deloitte, Starbucks, and Stantec have taken on similar projects at other SPS schools this year – from murals and gardens to playground refreshes and outdoor classrooms.

Why We Do This
Our Day of Giving is one of our favorite days of the year. It’s a chance for our whole office to work together, outside of our usual roles, toward something tangible: a school that’s ready and welcoming when students walk through the doors on the first day.
We’re grateful to Pathfinder K-8 for having us, and to every member of our team who spent the day painting, digging, and building alongside their colleagues. Seeing the playground transformed — knowing students will be running across that river and map in just a few weeks — made it a day well spent.
