Jacob Cooney

As a Principal at Seneca Group, Jacob brings a strategic, client-centered approach to large-scale real estate advisory and development. He co-leads Seneca Group’s Amazon account, helping to shape a multi-city portfolio that spans headquarters, office, and mixed-use space. Known for building high-performing and cohesive teams, Jacob thrives in complex, fast-evolving environments. He is recognized for his ability to flex beyond traditional scope and bringing multidimensional problem-solving to any project. With more than 20 years of development experience, he is committed to continuous improvement and leveraging best practices across regions to deliver exceptional outcomes for his clients.

Since joining Seneca Group in 2012, Jacob has played a pivotal role in more than 4M SF of development for Amazon’s HQ1 in downtown Seattle and has had direct oversight of the company’s HQ2 campus in Arlington, Virginia, totaling 2.1M SF. His work has extended beyond the core headquarters to include additional high-rise office projects in the Seattle area, as well as a two–city-block high-rise development in downtown Bellevue. Jacob is also actively involved with Amazon's expansion in Nashville and New York, where his advisory and due diligence work is helping to shape new office and retail projects. Across these efforts, he leads project teams from early strategy and site selection through entitlement, design, construction, and transition to operations.

Prior to joining Seneca Group, Jacob worked at Sellen Construction, where he spent eight years delivering complex projects across the healthcare and life sciences sector for clients such as Seattle Children's Hospital, UW Medicine, and St. Anthony's Hospital. Jacob holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Washington State University and received his certificate in Commercial Real Estate from the University of Washington.
